Ara Partners joins Princeton E-ffiliates
By the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment

Ara Partners, a global private equity and infrastructure firm focused on industrial decarbonization and the transition to a lower‑carbon economy, has joined Princeton E‑ffiliates.
Through E‑ffiliates, Ara Partners will collaborate with Princeton University’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment on research and initiatives that support the commercialization and scaling of companies making critical contributions to the industrial economy.
Ara Partners invests in companies that deliver practical, scalable solutions to reduce emissions and lower resource and energy intensity in heavy industry. The firm brings deep engineering and operating expertise to its more than two dozen portfolio companies, working with management teams to build and scale plants, improve processes, and identify new opportunities to enhance decarbonization outcomes.
As an E‑ffiliates member, Ara Partners will contribute its perspective on mobilizing private capital and structuring projects to accelerate the deployment of critical industrial process technologies. The firm is particularly focused on transforming core industrial systems—applying technical expertise, creativity, and rigorous engineering to redesign processes in the highest-emitting sectors of the industrial economy.
Ara Partners expects to explore a range of research areas with Princeton faculty, including semiconductors, chemicals, rare earth elements, and applications of artificial intelligence in industrial systems. By partnering with the Andlinger Center, Ara aims to deepen its view on the future of industrial decarbonization and use those insights to guide its investment strategy and portfolio development.
“At Ara, our team is focused on practical solutions that can be built, scaled, and operated reliably in real industrial settings,” said David Touhey, head of operations and execution at Ara Partners. “Partnering with Princeton E‑ffiliates allows us to combine that execution mindset together with leading research, so that promising innovations move beyond the lab and become bankable projects and durable industrial businesses.”
Chris Greig, associate director of external partnerships at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, welcomed Ara Partners to E‑ffiliates and noted the firm’s experience in commercializing and scaling technologies and companies on the path to net‑zero. “Ara’s goals align closely with the Andlinger Center’s mission, particularly in backing first‑of‑a‑kind demonstration projects to decarbonize hard‑to‑abate industries and supporting industry pathways to remain profitable and internationally competitive,” said Greig.
