Siemens Energy joins E-ffiliates to explore sustainable solutions for growing data center demand
Siemens Energy, a corporation delivering energy technology solutions with a focus on transforming the grid and energy infrastructure, has joined Princeton E-ffiliates Partnership.
Siemens Energy, a wholly independent company following its spinoff from Siemens AG in 2020, is currently located in 90 countries and operates across the energy landscape to provide the solutions, products, hardware, digital applications and more that companies need in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while simultaneously increasing their reliable and affordable energy supply. The company works with conventional and renewable power, grid technology, storage, and electrifying complex industrial processes.

As an E-ffiliates member, Siemens Energy is interested in exploring strategies for covering the rapidly expanding energy needs of data centers. The company has started working with faculty to model different scenarios in which the energy that powers data centers could be sourced in part from local clean energy sources contracted out with power purchasing agreements.
“Massive electricity consumers, such as data centers, present an opportunity to rethink an energy system that is resilient, sustainable, and future proof,” said Jose Bejarano, partnerships and technology deployment manager at Siemens Energy Innovation Center. “By combining the Andlinger Center’s expertise and modeling capabilities with Siemens Energy’s experience across energy technologies, we can assess optimal strategies that help local markets adapt to this new energy supply-and-demand paradigm.”
Chris Greig, associate director of external partnerships at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, welcomed Siemens Energy’s participation in the Center’s academic-corporate partnership program, noting the strong alignment between Siemens Energy’s capabilities and the Center’s focus on practical pathways for the energy transition.
“Siemens Energy’s participation as an E-ffiliates member represents an important addition to our partnership community at a time when the energy economy is undergoing profound change,” Greig said. “I am enthusiastic about the potential for collaboration on solutions that can provide cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable power for the unprecedented growth in large electricity loads.”
