The Growth and Future of the Fusion Energy Industry

Andrew Holland

Founder and CEO, Fusion Industry Association

Abstract

Fusion energy is increasingly moving toward commercialization. According to the Fusion Industry Association’s 2025 Industry Report, 84% of fusion companies anticipate commercial fusion in the 2030s or before. Driven by advances in key technologies and growing private investment, companies around the world are working to develop fusion as a safe, abundant, carbon-free energy source. Over the past decade, a global ecosystem of startups, suppliers, investors, research institutions, and governments has emerged to support the development and deployment of fusion power. As the industry continues to mature, it faces both significant opportunities and important challenges, including scaling advanced technologies, building resilient supply chains, establishing effective regulatory frameworks, and developing the workforce needed to support commercial deployment.
