Seizing the Climate Mitigation Window: New Initiatives at PPPL and Princeton
May 26 at 1:30 p.m. – Emily Carter is the Gerhard R. Andlinger ‘52 Professor in Energy and the Environment and a professor in mechanical and aerospace engineering and the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. She serves as the inaugural Senior Strategic Advisor for Sustainability Science at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, where she works to diversify the lab’s portfolio into sustainable energy, carbon management, and geoengineering. She was the Founding Director of Princeton’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. She served from 2016 to 2019 as Princeton’s Dean of Engineering and Applied Science, during which time she spearheaded major research, education, outreach, and diversity initiatives. From 2019 to 2021, she was UCLA’s Executive Vice Chancellor, Provost and a Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She is focusing her work fully on what is most meaningful to her, namely, climate change mitigation.
